Itinerary
Arrival in Cancún/Mexico
Upon arrival in Cancún, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Tulúm – Bacalar – Chicanna
In the morning, you will travel south in a comfortable bus. Your destination is probably the most beautifully situated Mayan site on the Yucatán Peninsula. The fortress of Tulúm proudly presents itself on a rock above the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea. After the visit, you will continue your two-hour drive to the enchanting lagoon of Bacalar, where you can have lunch on the shore (not included in the price), before arriving in Chicanna in the late afternoon, where you will move into a jungle lodge. You can end the evening at the hotel pool.

Calakmul – Palenque
The Mayan site of Calakmul is considered an insider tip and impresses with its originality. The huge cult site (one of the largest in the Mayan world) is located in the largest contiguous rainforest area in Mexico. You will then drive to Palenque at the foothills of the Yucatán Peninsula. Overnight in a hotel surrounded by lush jungle vegetation, where you can swim a round in the pool in the evening.

Palenque – Agua Azul
After a hearty breakfast, visit the Mayan site of Palenque. Especially impressive are the Temple of the Inscriptions and the palace complex, built in the 7th century by King Pakal and his son. At that time, Palenque dominated large parts of today's Chiapas and Guatemala as the rival city-state of Tikal. In the afternoon, possibility of a bath at the waterfalls of Agua Azul. The cascades make their way through the rainforest over several kilometres. If you prefer, you can relax at the hotel in the afternoon.

Campeche
In the morning you will head to the Gulf Coast. After a 4-hour drive, you will reach a restaurant directly on the beach, where you can enjoy fresh sea specialities. Continue via Champotón to the charming colonial city of Campeche, where you will check into a beautiful hotel directly in the historic centre. Afterwards, you will explore this colonial pearl, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with your guide or on your own if you wish.

Campeche – Uxmal – Mérida
After a city tour in Campeche, you will drive to the so-called Puuc region. On the way you have the opportunity to visit a Mayan village. Uxmal is the most important site in the Puuc region and is dominated by the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller and the Monk's Quadrangle. On the onward journey to Mérida, possibility of lunch (not included in the price). In Mérida, Caribbean joie de vivre awaits you. Enjoy a cocktail in a restaurant at Santa Lucia Park.

Izamal – Chichén Itzá – Valladolid
In Izamal, a good hour from Mérida, is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved convents from the colonial era. After the visit, we continue to Chichén Itzá, a must on any trip to the Yucatán. The Mayan and Toltec site is one of the largest and best preserved ruins in Mexico, including the Pyramid of the Kukulkán, Juego de Pelota, the Warrior Temple and the Cenote. Lunch not far from the excavation sites (not included in the price). From there you will drive to Valladolid, where you will stay in a beautiful colonial hotel directly opposite the cathedral.

Return flight or beach extension - Riviera Maya
On the last day of your trip, a visit away from the crowds is on the agenda: In the Rio Lagartos National Park, you can not only observe enchanting birdlife (especially flamingos) in their natural habitat, but also eat excellent fish afterwards. In the late afternoon you will finally reach the Caribbean coast. Transfer to the airport in Cancún and return flight.
Alternatively, you can extend your stay at the beach to your liking.

Visa requirements for this trip
VISA DETAILS MEXICO:
Your passport should be valid for six months upon entry, according to current regulations. German nationals travelling to Mexico as tourists may enter without first obtaining a visa. You will receive a tourist card (called "FMM") for a maximum of 180 days when entering Mexico by flight or at other border crossing points. When you cross the border, the card is stamped and the validity period is entered. Attention should be paid to the period of validity in order to avoid the expense of extending it at a later date.
