Itinerary
Arrival in Cancun, Mexico
Upon arrival in Cancun, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The journey time to the Cancun hotel zone is about 30 minutes.
Tulum - Chicanna
Delivery of a rental car to the hotel and drive south. Your destination is probably the most beautifully situated Mayan site on the Yucatan Peninsula. The fortress of Tulum stands proudly on a rock above the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea. After the visit, you will continue your two-hour drive to the enchanting lagoon of Bacalar, where you can have lunch on the shore, before arriving in Chicanna in the late afternoon, where you will move into a jungle lodge. You can end the evening at the hotel pool.
- Breakfast
Calakmul - Palenque
The Mayan site of Calakmul is one of the less visited, but impresses with its originality. The huge cult site - one of the largest in the Mayan world - is surrounded by lush jungle vegetation. You will then drive to Palenque, which is located at the foothills of the Yucatan Peninsula and already in the state of Chiapas. There you will move into a hotel surrounded by lush jungle vegetation, where you can enjoy a swim in the pool in the evening.
- Breakfast
Palenque - Agua Azul
After a hearty breakfast from the buffet, we first visit the fascinating Mayan site of Palenque. This impresses above all with the Temple of the Inscriptions and the palace complex built by King Pakal and his son in the 7th century. At that time, Palenque dominated other parts of present-day Chiapas and Guatemala as a rival city-state of Tikal. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to take a bath at the waterfalls of Agua Azul. The cascades make their way through the rainforest for several kilometres.
- Breakfast
Campeche
In the morning you will head to the Gulf Coast. After about four hours of driving, you will reach a restaurant directly on the beach where you can enjoy fresh sea specialities. Via Champoton, it is a good hour's drive to Campeche. In the enchanting colonial town, you will move into a beautiful hotel directly in the historic centre.
- Breakfast
Campeche - Uxmal - Merida
Today you will drive to the so-called Puuc region, which can be reached in about one and a half hours. On the way, you have the opportunity to stop in a Mayan village and visit the simple huts of the local population. Uxmal is the most important site in the Puuc region and is dominated by the Pyramid of the Fortune Teller and the Monk's Quadrangle. After the visit, you can have lunch on the way to Merida. In Merida, Caribbean joie de vivre awaits you. Enjoy a cocktail in a pub at Santa Lucia Park.
- Breakfast
Chichen Itza - Valladolid
A good hour from Merida is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved convents from the colonial era. After the visit, we continue to Chichen Itza, a must on any Yucatan trip. The Mayan and Toltec site is overshadowed by the Temple of the Kukulkan, a pyramid whose architecture is influenced by astronomical and astrological ideas. Afterwards, you will have lunch not far from the archaeological site. From there it is a 30-minute drive to Valladolid, where you will stay in a beautiful colonial hotel directly opposite the cathedral.
