Itinerary
Arrival Belize City
Arrival at Belize City Airport. Reception and transfer to the hotel.
Belize City - Baboon Sanctuary - Belize Zoo - Dangriga
Pick up a rental car and drive via Burrell Boom to the Baboon Sanctuary, which is considered the most popular and successful conservation project in the country. The intact jungle area is home to a population of howler monkeys that has grown to over 2,500. Here you can observe the cute black guys at close range. Continue on the Western Highway. Stop at the popular Belize Zoo where you will also meet the heraldic animal of Belize - the tapir! Passing the capital of Belize - Belmopan - you will take the idyllic Hummingbird Highway and finally arrive in Dangriga, a Garifuna community right on the Caribbean Sea. A walk will give you an impression of the cosy rhythm of life in this small town.

Dangriga - South Water Caye - Dangriga
Boat trip to the dreamlike "Bounty Island" South Water Caye. Fine sandy beaches with coconut palms beckon, and you have the opportunity to snorkel, swim or simply relax. Return to Dangriga in the afternoon.

Jaguar Reserve - Nim Li Punit - Toledo District
Today you continue on the Southern Highway towards Punta Gorda. At the Maya Center is the access road to the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. Drive deep into the rainforest and take a jungle walk on well-marked trails. Continue south. Visit the small but beautiful Mayan site of Nim Li Punit before arriving at your lodge, where you will spend the night in comfortable cabanas.

Day trip to the Toledo hinterland
Visit the Mayan site of Lubaantun, where the famous crystal skull was found. Take a detour to San Antonio - a typical Mayan village. Continue to Blue Creek and short hike through stunning fauna and flora to a cave. Enjoy a refreshing swim in one of the rock pools. Return to the lodge. If you feel like it, you can also drive to the district capital Punta Gorda, which is located directly on the Caribbean Sea.

Punta Gorda - Hummingbird Highway - Blue Hole - San Ignacio
Return on the Southern Highway to Dangriga. There, take the idyllic Hummingbird Highway towards Belmopan. Visit the Blue Hole National Park and treat yourself to a cool swim in the blue cenote. After a short city tour of the capital Belmopan, continue on the Western Highway towards San Ignacio.

San Ignacio - Tikal - San Ignacio
After a short drive, cross the border into Guatemala. Drive to the largest city ever built by the Mayas, Tikal, where over 10,000 people once lived. Even today, towering temples and sunken palaces bear witness to the vanished advanced civilisation of the ancient Mayas. Climb the "Pyramid Number 4" and you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view! Return to Belize in the afternoon.

San Ignacio - Belize City - San Pedro
In the morning it is worth visiting the Butterfly House, the small natural history museum at Chaa Creek Lodge. Also walk the Panti Trail forest nature trail. Return to Belize City in the afternoon. Arrival in Belize City and return of rental car. Individual flight to San Pedro.

Passport must be valid for at least six months upon entry. A return or onward flight ticket as well as proof of sufficient financial means (US$75/day) must be presented upon entry.
